After what seemed like a forever wait to be back racing Supercross we were hopeful that Pro Motocross series was going to be able to fire up back this summer quickly after the Supercross season wrapped up. There was hope that we would be able to be up and racing within a short amount of time in between both series. In Hopes that we would be back racing by mid-July, The TLD/ Red Bull/ KTM team jumped straight into outdoor testing and preparation right after the month long stint in Salt Lake City, UT after we finished the final 7 races in the Supercross series. Just as we were getting ready to finalize racing plans for a start date in July our dear friend COVID-19 came back into play shutting states back down and limiting regulations on events.
Unfortunately because rules and regulations were changing daily from state to state MX Sports gave us news at the beginning of July that we would have to postpone the season in order for us to get a complete motocross season scheduled. With the series postponed our riders and crew continued to work around the clock to get gearing, suspension and bike set up just right so that when the call to go racing was made we would be READY TO RACE! In order to get prepared for what the east coast weather would bring at most of the scheduled Pro Motocross rounds this summer, Pierce Brown and Derek Drake made their way down to Florida to the Bakers Factory to train with the rest of the Florida crew and as rookies hopefully gain some insight from veteran Factory Red Bull KTM riders Cooper Webb and Marvin Musquin. Teammate, Brandon Hartranft has continued to grind it out in California with the race team so his 250-SXF KTM is dialed and ready to hit the track. We stayed patient and continued to work around the clock with MX Sports and the Pro Motocross promoters they were able to work with the state governors and CDC in order to provide us with a new schedule that had us back racing in August.
The Series is set to kick off on August 15th in Hurricane Mills, TN at the nostalgic Loretta Lynn’s Dude Ranch home to the AMA Amateur National Championship. While some of the races on the schedule are classified as “No Fan attendance” due to state wide laws, there are still a few races that are allowing limited number of fans to be there to watch live and support the sport. HOW TO WATCH?
The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is televised on NBC, NBC Sports Network, and MAVTV, and is exclusively streamed live on the NBC Sports Gold subscription service. Every round features live coverage of the first motos in each class on MAVTV, while second moto coverage of most rounds can be seen on NBC Sports Network. Additionally, exclusive network broadcast coverage of select events will be showcased on NBC. Live and on-demand coverage, including an exclusive live stream of qualifying, can be seen on NBC Sports Gold via the "Pro Motocross Pass".
