Vali Höll is Crowned the 2021 UCI World Cup Overall Champion

The final two rounds of the World Cup Downhill season were set for a back-to-back finish at Snowshoe, West Virginia. For the first time in the UCI World Cup, a double header was planned on U.S. soil as Fort William, Scotland had been replaced.

For the first final on Wednesday Vali Höll earned her career first elite women’s World Cup race win after laying down a heater with a 3:40.233 run. Team Dorval Commencal's Camille Balanche would go on to follow closely behind for 2nd and make it a TLD double World Cup podium.

In elite men's Mark Wallace was the top TLD rider and grabbed a season-best 5th place finish in elite men’s for his second podium of the year. The young Aussie Ollie Davis followed suit in the junior men's class to earn fourth in the final.

Snowshoe #2 / World Cup Round 6 and Final Round

Vali Höll made history in the final race of the season and wins the 2021 DH World Cup overall elite women’s championship! After winning her career first elite women’s race Wednesday and perhaps getting the monkey off of her back, Vali went back-to-back to win the second Snowshoe race. Jumping from third overall in the series to first to win the first Elite Women’s World Cup Downhill championship in #tldbike history. ⠀

Troy Brosnan gave it his all at the season finale and finishes second at Snowshoe 2 to end the season fourth overall in elite men’s. Brosnan’s second-place finish lead Canyon Collective to Team of the Day honors. The factory Canyon effort would go on to finish fourth overall as a team when it was all said and done.

The crowd favorite and home soil hero, Luca Shaw was the fastest American in the field despite a cracked bone in his wrist and followed up an impressive sixth-place qualifying result with a fifth-place finish in the final to put the USA on the podium.⠀

More good news, Camille Balanche continues her podium streak and ends the season with a third-place race result in elite women’s to earn third overall in the series and lead the Dorval Commencal Team to a second-place overall team result. Camille Balanche completes a full season of being on the podium every race.
