Corona, Calif. (May 10, 2017) – Troy Lee Designs riders Taylor Robert and Kacy Martinez both grabbed victories in their respective classes at the fifth round of the AMA National Hare and Hound Championship in Jericho, Utah. In only his second race back, Robert earned his first overall win of the season, while Martinez added another win to her already impressive year, collecting her fourth win in five races.
Last weekend Robert scored seventh in his first Hare and Hound race since being sidelined with an injury he sustained in early February at King of the Motos. While he wasn’t happy with that finish, Robert vindicated himself and led from start to finish in the Utah desert.
“It felt so good to get back up there,” said Robert on his Instagram. “The Utah course was awesome. Although it was a long one (107 miles) it had an awesome mix of terrain - everything from Glamis-style sand dunes to technical, hard endure-style canyons and twisties through the trees. I'm glad I was able to redeem myself after Round 4 last weekend in California.”
Martinez had to put her head down in Utah after coming around the first loop in second. She ended up dropped back to third on the second loop, but charged the final loop and made her way into the lead to earn her third-consecutive Women’s A Class win and fourth of the season. Her dominating season so far has put Martinez on top of the Women’s A Class standings as the series hit its halfway point.
The next National Hare and Hound is scheduled to take place in one month at Plymouth, Utah on June 10.
Both Robert and Martinez were wearing the SE Air Streamline racewear from the 2018 collection, which is expected to hit the
TLD website mid-May. Robert was also sporting a shiny new
