Troy Lee Designs’ Cole Seely Bounces Back for Podium Finish in Moto 2
Lakewood, Colorado (June 4, 2016) – Troy Lee Designs rider
Cole Seely collected his first moto podium finish of the season at the Thunder Valley Motocross Park, just outside Denver. Sitting over a mile above sea level, Seely’s fitness was tested but he came away with his best finish yet, claiming fourth overall.
The weather was perfect for the third round of the season and Seely was determined to put his Honda on the podium. In Moto 1, he had to work his way up after a mid-pack start, but would eventually finish with a solid sixth place. Seely learned from Moto 1 and got a great start in the final moto of the day, even leading early on in the race. He would hold on for third, and with this 6-3 score, Seely finished just off the podium in fourth overall.
“It was good to finally be up front where I feel like I have speed to be,” said Seely. “We’ll keep building and working on the off weekend, hoping we can get on the overall podium next round.”
The fourth round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship will return after a one-week break at High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania on June 18.
Seely was wearing the SE Air Electro White and Blue Racewear, along with the SE4 Factory White Helmet the opening round. See more of the 2016 gear sets and the 2016 Moto Helmets

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM’s Shane McElrath Breaks Into Top 10
Lakewood, Colo. (June 4, 2016) – The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM team took on the altitude of the Denver area at Thunder Valley Motocross Park, with Shane McElrath leading the way with a result inside the top 10. Teammate Mitchell Oldenburg started the day well but had to work his way through the pack in Moto 2 scoring 16th on the day. Jessy Nelson finished just behind him in 17th with a 13-34 result.
After collecting 12th in Moto 1, McElrath put his KTM 250 SX-F near the front of the pack at the start of Moto 2. He rode the rough track as hard as he could, eventually crossing the finish line in seventh for eighth overall.
“This track is definitely challenging,” said McElrath. “Not only are we at altitude, the track has a lot of sharp edges and deep ruts, so you have to be on it for the whole moto.”
Oldenburg started the day with a great ride in Moto 1 where he scored inside the top 10 in ninth. He had a good gate pick in Moto 2, but on the start was hit and went down. It took a while for him to regroup, but would eventually make it all the way up to 25th. His 9-25 score was good enough for 16th overall.
Although he was unable to match his podium finish from last week, Nelson started the day with a solid ride in Moto 1. He came from behind, outside the top 10, to finish 13th. He was looking to better that score in the second moto, but was forced to settle with 34th and 18th overall.
Alex Frye’s day was over before it began after suffering a season-ending injury during practice leading into the weekend’s race. He’ll be cheering on his teammates from the sidelines while he heals up over the rest of the season.
The riders will get a weekend off before returning for Round 4 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania on June 18.
The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM riders wore the highly visible SE Corsa Yellow Racewear with the SE4 Factory Yellow Helmet. See all of the 2016 gear sets and the 2016 Moto Helmets online and at your local TLD retailer.
