Detroit (Feb 23, 2019) –
Racing returned to the Motor City this weekend for the first east coast triple crown format and round 8 of the AMA Supercross series. Just one week after sustaining a wrist injury while racing Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM Factory Racing’s Jordon Smith fought through the pain to put forth an impressive ride at the Triple Crown in Detroit, Michigan. Jordon decided to take the week off of riding prior to the race in efforts to help heal his wrist and it definitely paid off for him this past weekend. Smith had great starts all night, putting himself in favorable positions in each of the races as he consistently battled up front. With 2-2-4 finishes, Smith secured a podium spot and a second overall to climb his way into second-place in the 250SX East Championship after three rounds of racing.
Troy Lee Designs, Red Bull KTM Factory racing will have a packed rig next week when the East Coast will meet the West Coast in Atlanta for the first East/West shootout this year. Next weekend in Atlanta, Shane McElrath, Sean Cantrell and Jordon Smith will all battle for essential championship points and a prestigious spot on the 250SX podium. Jordon’s East Coast teammate, Mitchell Falk will still be out for this upcoming weekend in Atlanta. Mitchell Falk is still on the mend and letting his head heal up after a bad crash the week before Arlington. We are hoping to have Mitchell healed and back up and racing here soon!
