Cheek pad/ helmet problems

"I take into consideration that I purchased the cheapest helmet offered. That being said the easy release cheek pads do not stay in for us. Maybe it’s my fault somehow. But I’ve owned a few helmets and never had this kind of problem. I feel like it’s safer to have a cheek pad that stays in while you ride and takes a little effort to get out if you have a severe wreck. I’ll be purchasing a different brand helmet. Sucks because my son likes his Troy Lee helmet."
